Do I need a web site?

I don't need a web site, do I? I do everything else possible to market my business and I have plenty of work. My business grows by word-of-mouth. Why do I need a web site?

Are you really certain that potential customers won't use the internet to find your product or services? The fact is that at least in the United States over 158 million people have Internet access. Many people research their business needs at night time. Remember that the Internet is available for anyone as a 24 hour advertising medium and no matter if they are few miles or thousand of miles away.

I advertise in the yellow pages, which is also 24 hours a day. The Internet will offer more information about your services than the yellow pages. Your web site allows you to show much more of your information than a printed ad. The more information you provide, the more likely a potential client will buy from you. Web sites are a marketing tool, easy to change without a huge cost. If you have a special event or you want to include more information or simply change the phone number, the change will be instantaneous. The information will be available and visible without re-printing new material.

If your company does not have a web site, are you losing customers? Are they finding your competitors online but not you? There is no question that having a web site is more critical for some businesses than others. Companies like hotels, travel agencies or those that have products that can be shipped to customers, need a web site. But local businesses like dry cleaners, a doctor's office, or a food store can also benefit from a web site. A simple web page that shows your location, list of services, hours of operation, business information and offer special promotions, can save time by answering standard questions online. A well designed web site can give you visibility and credibility. Additionally, the World Wide Web offers an incredibly cost effective means of advertising. Compared to print, radio and television advertisements, a web site offers more information together with more possibilities for customers' feedback.

If you are marketing a product or service and you are NOT advertising where your competition is, you'll find yourself left behind very suddenly. Your web site is your company's 24 hour advertising medium. Why wouldn't you consider having one?
